Well, the rain is pouring down on the roof of
the cottage after a very long week. I was going to do some work
experience this weekend but I am taking the weekend off instead because
I'm totally worn out. I'm taking my housemates for a trip to Cork
tomorrow for lunch in Farmgate Cafe and a tour of The English Market.
Well,
this morning I made marzipan for 'Marzipan Apples' and 'Marzipan
Dates'. Simple enough, I had lots of fun using the different Petit Fours
for lunch. Then popped in the apples into the oven, nothing too
difficult. Then a mushroom soup and an omelette so it was a wind down
after a long week.
Lots of fabulous deliciousness this afternoon with Rory with lots of seafood:
A delicious Dingle Pie:
Some Elizabeth Mosses Gingerbread:
Not to mention cake, cake and yes more cake! This time in the carrotcake variety and a 'Beetroot and Walnut Cake':
Following
this week of cakes, I don't want to see any more cakes but they do look
pretty though and you can be so imaginative with cake. I would love to
set up my own tea shop serving some afternoon cake with fabulous china.
It would be great if we could get an afternoon tea movement going in
Ireland with lots of tea and cake. Bliss!
Anyway, my housemates and I are suffering from cabin fever so we went for dinner in Pizzeria San Marco
in Midleton which is run by an ex Ballymaloe trained chef. They do the
most amazing pizza so if you're in the area, drop in. I had a delicious
Calzone with tomato, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms.
