Today taught me that if you kneed scones too much, like I did, they become tender and tough, so there you go. Onto making jam which took alot longer than I planned which was Apple and Blackcurrant with Sweet Geranium.
Following a breakfast fruit salad and then the main dish- a full Irish breakfast which included the technique for a sunny side up egg. I boiled a kipper which was made using the boiling technique which I will use from here on in. Basically, you get the kipper and dip it into boiling water for 2-3 mins, so quick, so healthy, so fresh.
To top it all off, we were given a glass of bubbles in the form of Buzz Fizz, which was only just fabulous. Cheers :)
I was thinking of whether or not to post pics of the afternoon demo which went through how to skin, gut and joint a rabbit- I went with not, I'll spare yee. Shortly after I fainted from the smell of it all, the rabbit was in the oven and onto the next dish which was Pheasant and Chorizo Casserole. Here's a few snaps:
To finish it all off was Rachel's Lemon Tart with Lemon Ice cream and Candied Julienne of Lemon Peel, best dessert I have tasted yet:
Fabulously fluffy, like a light snow dusting over the cakes. Amazing! Finally, a Date tart and some Chocolate Fruit and Nuts:
After demo, I went to Rory to discuss a few ideas I want to get off the ground including street food and how to bring this blog forward. It was a really good chat and I feel like I have alot more options when I finish up in March.
Well bloggerville, I'm off to make myself a nice cup of breakfast tea, with one of my housemates blueberry muffins and a read of my latest cookery book: Darina Allen's Forgotten Skills of Cooking. We have a herb and salad exam next week so I'm reading up.
Tomorrow is a business day outlining costings/ budgeting etc. I'm not sure if there is anything in that I can blog about so I might just chat to you Thursday.
Nite x
